Captain's Address

I am delighted and honoured to be elected Captain of Ballykisteen Golf Club for 2017, and I very much appreciate the many good wishes and offers of support that I have received.

I would like to thank outgoing Captain Arthur Ryan for all his hard work and dedication over the last year which helped to ensure the smooth running of the club. I would also like to thank him for inviting me to be his Vice-Captain; an experience which I’m sure will be of great benefit to me in the year ahead. I am also looking forward to working with Frankie Nolan my Vice-Captain.

I am very lucky to have an eager and enthusiastic committee to assist me in all matters associated with the club and I hope that you will continue to support and cooperate with them this year. In addition we have team managers and selectors for each of the many inter club competitions we enter annually. I would encourage all members, especially new ones, to play in the trials for these competitions as the more players who enter the stronger the teams who represent us.

I would like to welcome our new members and would encourage them to take part in all the club competitions over the season. And I look forward to encouraging our junior members with their development.

We are privileged to have such magnificent facilities available to us and I look forward to working closely with Michael Heffernan and his Grounds staff and Pat Barrett in his new role as Director of Golf, to ensure that we maintain, or even improve on them this year.

I look forward to working with our President John Hughes and our Lady Captain Kiara O Keeffe on matters of mutual interest and I hope that at the end of our year we will hand on the club to our successors in equal, if not better shape than we took it on.

Le Gach Dea Ghui,

James Keane

Captain 2017
